Database Manager

Status: Part-Time, Salaried

About This Role:

  • Responsible for the managing of all data systems at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church including but not limited to the following: member data, financial data and other database programs used by the church. Control, manage, and use information gathered and entered into the data base systems.

  • Customize our database member portal pages so they have the same branding as our website.

  • Generate and update our daily, monthly and yearly reports for members, staff and the board of directors.

  • Teach others how to use the database system to fulfill the mission and vision of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. It will be expected that this person will work closely with our IT department and have input on design, updates and problem solving of our IT infrastructure.

 

Primary Responsibilities the Database Manager:

  • Serve as our Shelby Arena membership database expert.

  • Determine the best possible method of organizing, recording, and implementing strategies related to our data.

  • Provide expertise in the coaching and training of other staff members in usage of the Shelby Arena database system.

  • Implement creative use of the Shelby Arena database system by helping our ministry staff understand how they can best track, report, and utilize the information tools within the database.

  • Supply expertise on data collected and how to implement and streamline the processes to improve communication.

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the computer database not limited to but including the following: membership, demographics, attendance prospects, spiritual gifts, ministry interests and finance reporting.

  • Develop and maintain the Shelby Arena member portal webpages used for member updates, event registration, and record keeping.

  • Stay updated with new developments in database design and application.

  • Recruit and supervise administrative staff, volunteers, outside vendors or other employees who work with the data systems.

  • Cast vision, advise, and coordinate IT systems with Director of Facilities and Finance.

  • Update software as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Finance.

 

Skills and Strengths:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Information Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or its equivalent.

  • Background and knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, and SQL Server Reporting Services.

  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS and JavaScript.

  • Experience working with teams and volunteers.

  • Committed to the purpose and vision and accept the core beliefs and values of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.

 

Your Team:

  • This position reports to the Director of Facilities and Finance.

  • This position relates to the administrative and ministry staff.

  • The Information Control Manager participates in weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual team meetings as part of the Mission and Ministry Team.
